The land of 1000 hills is calling! Get ready for an unforgettable experience in Rwanda! Here’s a quick rundown of our exciting itinerary:

 

TOUR DETAILS AND ITINERARY

Departure: 24TH MAY  

  • 11:30 AM: Meeting time at Trinity bus offices – Duruma Rd
  • 12 NOON : Departure

Kindly observe time strictly to allow smooth travel.

Requirements

  • Passport, (temporary or permanent)
  • Valid Yellow fever certificate (for those without, you can get it at the boarder at a cost of 3000ksh)
  • Pocket money.
  • Personal medication if any.
  • Personal effects
  • Spirit of adventure (This is an adventure road trip, purpose to enjoy it.)

JOURNEY ROUTE & STOPOVERS

KENYA

Nakuru – Brief washroom stop

Busia – Immigration clearance

UGANDA (Overnight Drive – Longest Stretch)

Busia → Jinja → Kampala → Mbarara → Kabale

Several washroom and stretch stopovers will be made as needed.

This will be an overnight drive and the longest part of the journey.

 

MONEY EXCHANGE – UGANDA

At the Uganda border, there will be money vendors available to assist with currency exchange.

We advise exchanging small amounts only for Uganda, here, don’t do more than 1000ksh since we are just passing through Uganda

 

RWANDA ENTRY

We will enter Rwanda via Katuna Border, one of the 2 boarders between Rwanda and Uganda.

Estimated Arrival at Hotel: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM on the 25th. This timing depends heavily on keeping time throughout the journey. We kindly request everyone’s cooperation.

 

MONEY EXCHANGE – RWANDA

On arrival, we have a trusted and reliable money changer who will come directly to the hotel. This option is safer, easier, and more convenient for the group.

We strongly recommend carrying cash for easy exchange and to avoid unnecessary mobile money complications.

 

WEATHER & DRESS CODE 

Rwanda is generally warm during the day short evening rains may occur.

    OUR EXCURSIONS

    Here below are some of the excursions we are likely to cover during our tour in Rwanda,

    Kigali Genocide Memorial

    Kigali Genocide Memorial, is the resting place for thousands of victims of the 1994 genocide. The remains of over 250,000 people are interred there.

    Kings Palace museum and Inyambo cows.

    In the ancient days, Nyanza used to be the Kingdom capital of Rwanda before the modern day administration shifted to Kigali, this is where the rulers used to make their decisions from, we will tour the traditional King’s Palace and the modern Kings palace (brick walled, build in 1932), we will then have a experience with the inyambo cows, which used to be a sign of wealth in the ancient times among the Rwandese.

    Nyungwe Canopy Walk

    Nyungwe Canopy Walk in Nyungwe National Park is one of our activities during the tour, an exhilarating suspended canopy walks, 70m high and more than 100m long, in vast a vast and rich tropical rainforest extending across Rwanda and shares borders with Burundi and the DRC (Congo). We will have a nature walk on this day. (accessing the canopy walk deeper into the forest) and a proper closed shoe with proper threading is ideal

    A Raincoat / poncho might come in handy on this day due to unpredictable rains, so is Light warm clothing suitable for a rainforest environment.

    Napoleon island Lakeside Views (If time allows)

    Lake Kivu is a lake bordering both Congo and Rwanda, a lake dotted with over 250 islands, one of them being the Napoleon island, if time allows we will go up the island, a chance for you to experience the spectacular and breath-taking views around Lake Kivu.

    Later We will then have a scenic drive from Karongi to Gisenyi (approximately 2.5 hours) with a chance to experience a mud bath (self-sponsored) at the hot springs on that side of lake Kivu.

    Kigali Convention Centre (MICE)

    One of the state of art modern conferencing and convention centers in Africa, this is forms part of Kigali City tour, where youll have a chance to Explore the city’s vibrancy, (accessing inside is not guaranteed)

     Power Bank

    We highly recommend that everyone carries a power bank to ensure your phone stays charged throughout the journey. This will help you stay connected and receive updates at all times.

    Connectivity & SIM Cards

    Uganda: Those who wish to stay connected in Uganda may consider using an Airtel line, as it connects well within Uganda.

    Rwanda: We will guide you on where to purchase SIM cards upon arrival., MTN Rwanda is the most preferred and reliable network.

    Safaricom Roaming: You can still opt to roam on Safaricom, but this is always costly.

     Hotel Wi-Fi

    Hotels do have Wi-Fi; however, it may not always be reliable as the Speed may be affected by high guest numbers

    Comfort During the Journey

    Please wear loose, comfortable clothing for the long drive, choose easy, comfortable shoes — tight shoes may cause fatigue during long hours of travel.
