Escape Brief.

Approximately 240 km from Nairobi, Ngare Ndare forest is a lush indigenous forest at the northern foothills of Mt. Kenya. Azure pools glisten at the bottom of waterfalls and 200 years old trees stretch into the canopy supporting a rich variety of bird and animal life. The forest is a vital corridor that links the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Northern Kenya to Mount Kenya forest reserve, and one which elephants have been using for centuries.

HIGHLIGHTS

Tree Canopy Walk

The longest foot bridge in East Africa, suspended 30 feet above the ground and stretching 450 m long, you will walk to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the forest, which ends on a high platform where one can view elephants and other wild animal’s drinking water from the swamp below

Waterfalls

The forest has six natural blue pools and waterfalls hidden in the middle of the forest where one can swim and relax..

Birds and Wildlife

The forest boasts of all the big five animals over two hundred species of birds, some being migratory. Rare spectacular birds like Hurt labs Turaco and the Narina trogon can be found here.

Small animals like bushbucks, waterbucks warthogs and hyenas are also found in the forest.  Not forgetting the most elusive monkey, the colobus monkey!

Forest Walk

We have one hiking trail in the forest which covers a distance of 3.5 Km, ending at the waterfalls and azure pools. There are some areas that are quite steep, but manageable. This will take you about an hour to hike to the pools.

• Tights /cargo pants or something comfortable you would normally use for workouts
• Comfortable hiking / sports shoes

ESCAPE ITINERARY

• Escape point: International house front car park
• 0500hrs: Meet up at International House front Parking
• 0515hrs: Departure
• 0915hrs: Arrival
• 0930hrs: kickoff after light warm-up and stretches

There will a number of photo session stops along the way.

• Cancellation 24hrs To: 50% refunded
